Teaching with KIE First Person Getting Started SpeakEasy

First Person

Interested in hearing more about what it's like to use KIE in the classroom? This section features interviews with current KIE teachers, who talk about goals, tips and challenges of teaching in a KIE classroom.

Our current Feature Teacher is Doug Kirkpatrick, an experienced science teacher who has been using KIE extensively for several years. Feature Teacher: Doug Kirkpatrick

Doug Kirkpatrick is an eighth grade physical sciences teacher in Walnut Creek, CA.

He has been teaching for 35 years, and working with kids and computers for 12.


Doug teaches a semester-long curriculum on heat, temperature, and light that makes extensive use of KIE. In this interview, he shares his perspectives on using technology to promote thinking and learning.
