KIE is a learning environment that uses the Internet to help middle and high school students develop an integrated understanding of science and a critical eye toward the complex resources found on the Web. It is the product of extensive research and classroom trials conducted through the NSF-funded KIE project, which explores innovative uses of the Internet and World Wide Web for K-12 science instruction. Click here to start the Quick Tour. The Tour will introduce you to our vision of learning, our instructional framework, the projects and software that help students to become intelligent consumers of Web resources as they learn science, KIE assessment strategies, and some pointers to where to go from here.
